番組プロデューサーのジョエル・ガレンはニューヨーク・タイムズ に対し、前夜にバンドがリハーサルで曲を演奏するために集まった際、プリンスは後部座席に座っていたと語った。

ガレンは「プリンスが演奏するはずの真ん中のソロに到達すると、ジェフ・リンのギタリストのマーク・マンがソロを弾き始めてしまった。クラプトンのように一音一音を正確に弾いていたが、プリンスはただ立ち止まって彼にやらせたまま、自分はリズムギターを弾いていた。そして最後のソロに到達し、プリンスがソロに入るために前に出た時、再びマーク・マンが演奏を始めてしまったがプリンスは何も言わずリズムを弾き続け、ところどころリードを演奏したが、ほとんど記憶に残るものではなかった。

だから私はプリンスを脇に呼び寄せてプライベートな会話をしたのですが、彼はこう言いました。『ほら、あの人にはやりたいようにをやらせて、最後に僕が入るからさ。最後のソロの場合は、真ん中のソロは忘れてください。』」そして彼は『心配しないで』と言い彼は去って行った」

このソロは、まるでこの世のものとは思えない輝きが持続する例であり、あたかもプリンスが3分間のうちの最も重要な部分で、関係者全員に自分の素晴らしさを正確に見せつけようと決意しているかのようだ。彼は観客に対してであると同時に、他のミュージシャンに対してもショーを披露している。それでもハイライトはまだあります。もちろん、プリンスが指でタップして倍音を呼び起こし、ギターのネックを引き裂くような演奏は、驚くべきものとしか言いようのないマスタークラスのコントロールを生み出した。
ジョージの息子ダーニー・ハリソンが喜びに顔を輝かせて見守る中、プリンスが観客に背を向け、警備員の腕に信頼を寄せる瞬間がある。そして曲の終わりには、プリンスがギターを空中に放り投げ、バンドの他のメンバーに背を向け、さりげなくステージから去っていく瞬間があった。

クリーブランド公演の後アフターパーティーのためにスパイ・バーに行く準備ができているが、
プリンスとバンドは今夜ライブを行う予定は無いという。「演奏するのはいつも大好きだよ、でもあまりにも多くのショーをやっているので
バンドに休憩の必要があるんだ」、なぜこれほど休みが少ないツアーを行うのかと尋ねると、
プリンスは微笑みながら両手を前に差し出し重さを量るかのように「寝てるか、それとも50万ドル欲しいかい？」
現金はもちろん歓迎だがプリンスは最近、お金以上のものに満足している。
「最近ではファンが息子や娘を僕のショーに連れて来るんだよ。僕もそうやって育ったんだ。そういう人たちにインスピレーションを与えられたらいいなと思う」

アフターショーに行きました。素晴らしかったです。ラリー・グラハムがいて演奏していました。プリンスは飲み物を買ったりするために数回舞台裏に行った以外はずっとステージにいました。彼は確かラリーと Dear Mr, Man と Higherで歌いました。ほとんどはみんなで一緒にジャムセッションをしていて、とてもクールでした。私は幸運にも最前列に座ることができ、メイシオと握手し、ラリーのギターと手、マイケルの手を触り、そして最後にプリンスが私の手を触ってくれました。忘れられない夜だったとしか言いようがありません。一人 20 ドル払って行く価値は十分にありました。とてもリラックスした雰囲気でした。皆さんはどうか分かりませんが、私はまだ耳鳴りがしています。今まで行ったコンサートの中で一番うるさいコンサートでした。プリンス 2004は最高です。
